NRTG Auditions
General Audition Info

Auditions for the 2024-25 season are now complete. Thank you to everyone who came out to audition with us!

Adult (18+) actors, singers, and dancers of all levels, beginner to professional, are encouraged to audition.

Those auditioning for musical roles should prepare and bring sheet music for a single audition song. It is not necessary that it be a song from a show in our season. An accompanist will be provided.

Those auditioning for non-singing roles will be asked to do cold readings from scripts that will be provided – no monologue is required.

Auditions are held at: The Ellicott Creek Playhouse, 550 Ellicott Creek Road, Tonawanda NY.

Callbacks

At the completion of your general audition, you may be asked to return for callback auditions, which are generally held within a week of the general auditions. Many roles are often cast without callbacks — if you are not asked to return for callbacks, it does not mean that you will not be offered a part. At callback auditions, candidates for all shows will be asked to do cold readings from the script, and to perform musical selections from shows you are being considered for.

Casting Decisions

Auditioners who are offered roles will be contacted by phone soon after callbacks are completed. Everyone who is cast for any of the season's shows are welcomed as a member of the “NRTG Company” for the entire season. If you are offered a featured or lead role, it is likely you will be offered at least one other ensemble role as part of your casting “package," to help ensure all our show casts are strong. Preference will be given to those able to accept their casting as a whole, as part of the “NRTG Company” concept. However, it is NOT an absolute requirement to participate in multiple shows in our season.

Rehearsals

Our standard rehearsal schedule begins 5-6 weeks before opening, Monday through Thursday evenings, 7 pm-10 pm (though in the early weeks not everyone is called for every rehearsal). We pride ourselves on our family-friendly rehearsal schedule, with no Friday or weekend rehearsals until the week before opening.

The week before the show opens will always include a Friday evening rehearsal. Be prepared, as well, to work all day (approx. 11 AM - 6 PM) on the Sunday before opening, for a run-through or technical rehearsal.

Crew Hours

All cast members are required to contribute crew hours, helping with set builds, props, costumes, and publicity. Work parties are scheduled once rehearsals have begun and take place on the weekends leading up to the show. Crew time is served in our multipurpose home at the Ellicott Creek Playhouse.
